Here we are with another status quo establishing Rebirth issue, this time of Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps.
It’s been a while since we saw Hal Jordan, well, except if you recall his appearance in the Green Lanterns Rebirth (that issue actually takes place after this, but I will try and ignore that fact) and here we are seeing Jordan on the last steps of losing his humanity.
As is common with all the main Rebirth issues, this story helps to establish the status quo of the series. Venditti does a good job telling us lapsed readers about what’s been going on in the Green Lantern area of the DC Universe, making us intrigued about what’s to come, especially how it will eventually tie into the adventures of Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz in Green Lanterns.
Van Scriver has always been a very capable artist, though I find that his grand space-opera scenes way more dynamic and interesting than when he does regular scenes, which are sadly flat and a bit generic.
Another solid issue that sets up what is going to happen in the future of the Green Lantern Corps and Hal Jordan.
