I think I am just going to come right out and say it, Detective Comics is THE DC series to beat right now.  Not only does it have Batman, but the entire Bat-crew is compelling with everyone getting enough screentime to put their mark in the story.

This issue, however, we spent the most of our time with Kate Kane, which was great.  Tynion has a great grip on Batwoman and her motivations, which is clearly distinct from Batman, but at the same time it shows why Batman would trust her to lead this team.  The twist in the story was also fantastic and I cannot wait for the next issue to come out.

Martinez’s art is great, I am loving this spiky art style for the moment and it works for the Bat-family.  What is great is that DC has allowed Martinez to go wild with the panel design, making this comic one of the most visually distinctive in DC’s roster at the moment (just that first page alone was worth the price of admission).

This comics is so good that it is almost impossible to describe adequately.
