Alright, so we got Superman coming out of our ears and they all look freaking awesome.
As we hop through the multiverse recruiting all those Supes who haven’t been kidnapped (and possibly devolved, oh poor Captain Carrot) we get everyone (there are several artists doing duty in this issue) just going all out on creativity. I have kind of fallen in love with the Gears of War-esque Justice League of Assassins, who get the opening pages all to themselves in their glorious brutality. So yeah, the art is great, despite the variety of artists (some styles work better than others, but none of it is ugly).
Then we have the great, criminally underpraised team of Tomasi and Gleason, who are crafting another interesting story where Supes is moving solo (without the family I mean). While I do miss Lois and Jon, not having them underfoot once in a while is a good thing. Despite the still dumb name of the villain minions, it is still an intriguing story that is building up to another slobber-knocker of a match that will rival the Eradicator fight, I can feel it in my bones.
I so can’t wait for the next issue, four and a half Thwips! and more please!
