Thwip! Watch – DC’s Legends of Tomorrow – S02E13 -“Land of the Lost”

Thwip! Watch is all about what goes on our screens, namely TV. Whether CW or Fox or NBC or what-have-you, you can be sure that we here at Thwip! have been watching it. Today we are going to talk about DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

Ah it was nice to have the Legends back in town, ’cause they are such a happy, goofy bunch.

This was a bit of a return to status quo, focusing on getting Rip Hunter back on the team.

Since Legends runs on old ’80s movie tropes, this time around we JOURNEYED INTO HIS MIIIIIIIND!

It was kind of fun and disposable and exactly the same tone as all the previous episodes of Legends, which is a great thing, ’cause this show has been consistent in tone, style, and story-telling (which is more than we can say about Arrow, which varies in quality from episode to episode).

The B-plot story, which I thought was going to be a full on Jurassic Park riff, went with the romantic pairing of Citizen Steel and Vixen…and the future ramifications of their romance. It was a bit too low-key, and Vixen seemed oddly aggressive compared to how she has been in the previous episodes, but the writers put a decent effort into making it work.

All in all, these are the final thoughts I had on this episode which is kicking off the final part of the season (it seems).

Heatwave is awesome.

White Canary is fantastic and should be brought into the comics

Rip Hunter as evil was kind of more interesting than when he was good.

Blake Neely’s theme for Eobard Thawne is fantastic and subtle, seriously, Neely’s contributions is super underrated for the entirety of CW (even in Riverdale, the music is spot-on).

Also, Rip totally made-out with Gideon…and she liked it! (That’s a song that needs to be made “I kissed my ship and I liked it…”)
