Thwip! Watch – Arrow S05E19 – “Dangerous Liaisons”

Thwip! Watch is all about what goes on our screens, namely TV. Whether CW or Fox or NBC or what-have-you, you can be sure that we here at Thwip! have been watching it. Today we are going to talk about Arrow.

The best spin-off from this show would be Detective Lance and Wild Dog just doing weird buddy cop shenanigans, (and as mentor-mentee). I am giggling to myself as I think about the potential greatness of that show.

Anyways, this show is again taking a detour into character-building land and decided to deal with Felicity’s Helix connection.

I am not sure how I feel about Felicity taking such a weirdly proactive approach to catching Prometheus…it feels kind of out of left field (also I am not sure is she wearing that much mascara as a cosmetic choice or she is going to wear a mask…really bad make-up choice).

The whole argument is kind of stupid (and shows that the 20+ episode season does not work anymore…time to re-think things network television!) and the fact that this hacker collective decides to get into the action again annoys me (you hired mercenaries for a reason you keyboard warriors!).

Terrific’s goofiness is endearing, giving voice to how weird and silly the show is getting and I kind of appreciate it (mainly ’cause this episode is dumb as fuck).

Amell is doing a good job transitioning to be Papa Arrow of the team as he plays world weary vigilante and guy who makes terrible decisions with equal earnestness.

This is one of those episodes that is all part of the winding down of the season, meaning that we probably have to endure one more bad episode before we really hit the endgame of the season (which means we have to deal with Prometheus…unfortunately [he was the least interesting of all this, the buildup was more fun really]).

I really hope Arrow can stick the landing, but this episode does not bode well for how it is going to go.
