Thwip! Watch is all about what goes on our screens, namely TV. Whether CW or Fox or NBC or what-have-you, you can be sure that we here at Thwip! have been watching it. Today we are going to talk about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The thing is, this was building up to be some kind of great underdog story, where Daisy and her S.H.I.E.L.D. cohorts fight against Aida and her Hydra goons and how to save Fitz. It was intriguing, tense, and very much a story that was worth wanting to watch.
But then, something happened. It all felt not just right, which I chalked up to me being a grumpy Gus.
But this episode was truly the nail in the coffin (though the last minute twist was a good cliff-hanger for the next episode). The reason why I am so down on this episode is that it’s a lot of telegraphing and a lot of waiting around to build unnecessary tension. It feels that half of the episode is people staring incredulously at each other as another person tries to explain/convince something and then a jump-shock moment.
So we have finally left the Framework and immediately are going to go back to the Darkhold (I guess)…seriously, do we not have Doctor Strange on retainer for this? It feels like the series is kind of going in circles as it tries to figure out how to stick the landing, the problem is I don’t know if I really care anymore though…
